Summer Solstice Parade
Once a year, the denizens of Fremont come out in force to throw a parade.
It's a parade unlike many you have ever seen before. There are no advertisements, there are no animals, there are no written words, there are no motorized vehicles. It's a human-powered parade fueled by imagination.
The Fremont Solstice Parade is really a month-long celebration of community and it's open to anyone. It is a time for sharing ideas, creating whimsical floats and costumed entourages. It is a time to let your inner child play to tens of thousands of spectators.
The Fremont Solstice Parade even sponsors workshops where artists from around the world come to share ideas and breathe fresh ideas into the celebration, which helps it continually reinvent itself.
The Parade starts at noon on the closest Saturday to the Summer Solstice (June 21) and is open to anyone to attend. It is sponsored and organized by the Fremont Arts Council, which derives support for the parade from donations from around the community.
